One of the things I like the most about Austin is its laid-back attitude about everything. From school to shopping to hanging out to going out, the city is pretty receptive to being cool all around. Basically, I describe it as being able to walk around anywhere in a tshirt and flip-flops.

Last night I went to a place that needed you to be on a guest list to get in and you were treated like shit if you weren’t on it. There was an entry fee and the owner/manager (I could tell it was her) was at the door, giving people crap just because she could. On the place’s website, it strictly states their dress code and some rules to abide by if you’re going there. The club acts like it’s so upscale and they must think they’re in L.A. or something because it just had an arrogant feel to it. The only reason the place hasn’t gone under is because there are enough narcissistic people in this town for the place to feed their delusional self-importance (sad).

Nothing happened to me really, but I just didn’t like the vibe of the place. I had never been there and will probably never go back. I had heard only bad things about it and it doesn’t really seem like it would have been my kind of gig otherwise. I left after not even a half hour and went and hung out with friends where I didn’t feel like I was being judged the whole time and could actually have some fun.

Aren’t people allowed to be exclusive? It’s about damn time Austin tried to be a forward city in all areas.

    I’m all about exclusion, see.

now that Mel mentions it, I feel the same way everytime I walk into the Apple store.

Sounds like QUA. The place with the shark tanks.

Wouldn’t let me in because I wouldn’t tuck in my shirt.
